Genetics play a significant role in the final architecture of a plant, and in vertical farming there is a significant advantage in identifying cultivars that have dwarf characteristics. Exploring dwarf crops that are typically used more for ornamental purposes than commercial production, we have been able to successfully grow economically feasible pepper and tomato crops that otherwise were not possible in vertical farming. Jalapenos have been found to be a great pair with the ZipGrow system and our research has found the yields and quality to make for a strong business model.
