Want to grow more? Build a greenhouse!
Greenhouses are a great way to create a controlled growing environment that will help increase productivity while also extending growing periods. This is the first post/video documenting Bright Agrotech’s greenhouse build.
Why use a greenhouse?
Building (or buying) a greenhouse makes sense for folks growing their own food, flowers or other plants. A few of these reasons include:
- Providing shelter for your crops to protect them from hail, snow, high winds, or even over-saturation (too much rain – yes there is such a thing!)
- Better control over pests and pest management (this includes those pesky rodents, too.)
- Extending the growing season up to a few months or even enabling 12-month production.
- Closer control over other growing variables which leads to greater yields and more efficient production.
As you can see, the benefits of building or buying a greenhouse for your farming operation or gardening hobby make A LOT of sense!
Hoop houses may be the right choice for you
We’re partial to hoop houses or “high tunnels” because they’re:
- Inexpensive
- Â Easy to build
- Â Simple to modify
- Â Easy to heat

Greenhouses at ZipGrow
Greenhouses play a big part of our vertical farming operation on the high plains of Laramie, WY.
We built a new greenhouse in 2013 and we’ve made a few videos on the essential steps in the build process.
Here’s part one! (Please feel free to ask questions or leave a comment!)
